Community and Voluntary Organisations

Volunteering can be a very challenging and rewarding activity to be involved in. Some say it gives them a chance to give something back to the community, others do it merely to fill spare time and for some it can lead to a first step on the career ladder.

There are some specific organisations that specialise in offering opportunities to volunteers these are called Voluntary Service Councils or Volunteer Bureaus. There are various Voluntary Service Councils throughout Coventry and Warwickshire. The contact details are below.

Coventry Mind is a charity that offers support to people with mental health issues and they are always in need of volunteers. Coventry Mind offer volunteers:

Help and support from the Volunteer Co-ordinator;
Regular ongoing training;
Re-imbursement of any out of pocket expenses;
Regular supervision;
After six months as a volunteer we are able to provide a reference for future employment.

Coventry Citizen's Advice Bureau is offering training for volunteer advice worker. Volunteers are needed for the city centre service. No qualifications are needed to apply and it could lead to you gaining a Certificate in Generalist Advice.
