RAMP PROJECT

The RAMP Project, funded through Esmee Fairbairn exists to assist Disabled people into employment and supporting businesses to employ skilled Disabled people: Raising Awareness through Mentoring and Personal Support project (RAMP).

The scheme will offer businesses both large and small the opportunity to contribute towards their local community through enabling members of staff to become volunteer mentors. A mentor will in turn learn everything a business needs to know about complying with the latest instructions contained in the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) legislation, in force from 1 October 2004 and will be classed as the disability 'champion' within their own workforce.

Volunteer mentors will be trained in mentoring skills, disability equality and the Disability Discrimination Act, with the course designed specifically to address confidence boosting skills, training needs, career development and the problems that disabled people face when trying to gain suitable employment.

The RAMP team Personal Advisor will offer an accessible, confidential environment in which to carry out a detailed assessment of needs that will also incorporate details of employment vacancies, opportunities for further development in the job market, higher education initiatives, training etc, with all assessments taking into consideration a person's own ability and suitability to all posts. If you would like further details about the mentoring scheme, or any information regarding the RAMP Project and the services that we can offer you or your organisation, please do not hesitate to contact the Mentoring Coordinator
