21st Century Welfare

This consultation is seeking views on how to make the benefits system simpler and more effective. The aim is to have fewer individual benefits and fewer layers of bureaucracy with an underlined ethos of financial support firmly focused on making work pay.

Disabled People, whatever their political view, are likely to be more reliant on state benefits than non Disabled People. Some Disabled People because of high levels of impairment may find the process of work difficult, but with efficient support could make a valuable and useful contribution to any work environment.

The consultation makes interesting reading and sets out government thinking in this area.
