Dis n Dat is a book that has strong appeal for all ages because it has many functional roles - poetry and prose. The book is inspirational, practical and exciting which makes you want to read and write poetry and prose of your own! It also has some patois! It deals with different subject matters hence the title. It can be used throughout the year especially during Black History Month in October and February. It has been used in Schools and Community Centres with great success.

'Strength: Broadsides from Disability on the Arts'
Paddy Masefield's new book 'Strength: Broadsides from Disability on the Arts' is published in February 2006. This volume looks back over the past 3 decades of the Disability Arts Movement, commenting on the progress of the inclusion of disabled people into the arts world with a mix of anecdote and story from a wide range of sources. The book offers examples of disabled artists' sense of empowerment from embracing the social model of disability. He gives examples of disabled artists challenging barriers and finding success. As well as the achievements of the movement, the book also takes into account companies and projects that fell by the wayside. At a time when many disabled and non-disabled people want to believe that things are getting better for disabled people, he reminds us, using recent accounts, that there is much further to go for disabled artists to find the opportunities and access they deserve.

Live & Local
Increasing Access by Disabled People to Professional Arts Performances in Rural and Community Venues in Warwick District
Live & Local is a network of over 100 voluntary organisations across the West and East Midlands who book and promote professional performances for their village halls, schools and community centres. The shows are chosen by the local community, for their local community.
We are currently working in partnership with Warwick District Council on a project that aims to raise awareness of Live & Local performances and venues with disabled people in and around Warwick District and to encourage more disabled people to attend professional arts performances in rural and community venues.
